EEG biofeedback training

Reading and writing training

For children who skip lines, read slowly, or keep mixing up similar characters — EEG biofeedback supports visual attention and character recognition.

Who it helps

If your child shows three or more of the following while reading or writing, structured training may help.

  • Skips lines or words, points with a finger to track
  • Reads slowly with broken phrasing
  • Repeatedly confuses similar characters or letters
  • Sloppy handwriting and missing characters when copying
  • Struggles to form phrases or retrieve vocabulary
  • Same spelling mistakes recur after correction
  • Unstable tone or pinyin recognition

How it works

EEG biofeedback monitors brainwave activity related to visual attention and character recognition, turning the current brain state into visual or auditory cues. Paired with staged reading and writing tasks, this helps children improve reading fluency and writing form.

Program structure

Cycle
30 sessions per cycle
Frequency
2-3 sessions per week
Per session
60 minutes per session
  • EEG headset (registered medical device)
  • Reading and writing training console
  • Visual feedback software

Most students report measurable improvements after 30 sessions*

*Individual results vary; outcomes depend on training frequency and family engagement.

Trainers and equipment

Our trainers come from psychology and education backgrounds and complete regular EEG-biofeedback protocol training. The EEG acquisition devices are registered medical equipment, calibrated and maintained on schedule.

  • Which children is the reading and writing program for?

    The reading and writing program is mainly aimed at children who read slowly or skip words and lines; who struggle with longer texts and miss the main points; who make frequent mistakes when writing or write very slowly; or who show little interest in reading and put off their homework.

    The program links visual tracking, auditory discrimination, language comprehension and written organisation, using EEG biofeedback so that reading and expression tasks are done in a focused state. Over time this builds sensitivity to text and the ability to organise ideas. We suggest talking through what you observe at home with a coach before enrolling. • What does KingBrains do?

    KingBrains (Beijing) is an EEG biofeedback training centre for children, teenagers and adults aged 6 and above. We combine internationally recognised neurofeedback techniques with a localised teaching framework, offering programs around five themes: attention, memory, reading and writing, emotion regulation and positive parenting.

    We do not provide medical diagnosis or treatment. All programs aim to support cognitive skills and self-regulation, and are guided one-on-one by trained coaches. To learn about each program, see /en/courses/attention, /en/courses/memory, /en/courses/reading, /en/courses/emotion or /en/courses/positive-discipline. You can also call +86 400-006-2056.

  • What does a typical training cycle look like?

    Every learner starts with a baseline assessment that combines cognitive testing, behavioural observation and a parent interview. Based on this, the coach designs a personalised training plan.

    A regular session usually lasts 50–60 minutes and follows this flow:

    1. Sign-in and a brief check on the learner's state;
    2. EEG sensors are placed and the learner begins the training tasks;
    3. The coach stays with the learner and adjusts difficulty in real time;
    4. After class, the learner receives a session report and home practice suggestions.

    Training is organised into stages. At the end of each stage we review the learner's progress with the family and decide together whether to continue, deepen or pause the program.
