EEG biofeedback training
Emotion regulation training
For children with strong mood swings, exam-time tension, or trouble winding down at night — EEG biofeedback supports self-regulation skills.
Who it helps
If your child shows three or more of the following day-to-day, structured training may help.
- Strong mood swings, easily frustrated
- Gives up after setbacks instead of trying again
- Anxious at bedtime, struggles to fall asleep
- Excessive tension before exams that hurts performance
- Withdraws and stays silent in unfamiliar settings
- Reluctant to express feelings, hard for parents to read
- Highly sensitive to peer evaluation
How it works
EEG biofeedback monitors brainwave activity related to emotion regulation in real time and turns it into visual or auditory cues children can perceive. Through that feedback, children practice switching between relaxation and focus and gradually build steadier ways of regulating emotion.
Program structure
- Cycle
- 30 sessions per cycle
- Frequency
- 2-3 sessions per week
- Per session
- 60 minutes per session
- EEG headset (registered medical device)
- Emotion training console
- Visual feedback software
Most students report measurable improvements after 30 sessions*
*Individual results vary; outcomes depend on training frequency and family engagement.
Trainers and equipment
Our trainers come from psychology and education backgrounds and complete regular EEG-biofeedback protocol training. The EEG acquisition devices are registered medical equipment, calibrated and maintained on schedule.
Related FAQs
How does the emotion and self-regulation program work?
The emotion and self-regulation program combines EEG biofeedback, relaxation practice and guided conversation to help learners recognise the bodily signals of stress, anxiety and mood swings, and to build their own regulation strategies. Typical exercises include paced breathing, guided relaxation with brainwave feedback, and reflecting on real situations afterwards.
Our aim is to strengthen emotional awareness and coping skills; the program is not a substitute for professional counselling or medical care. If a child's emotional difficulties persist, we recommend seeking an assessment from a qualified mental-health or medical service alongside the training. See /en/courses/emotion for details.
What does KingBrains do?
KingBrains (Beijing) is an EEG biofeedback training centre for children, teenagers and adults aged 6 and above. We combine internationally recognised neurofeedback techniques with a localised teaching framework, offering programs around five themes: attention, memory, reading and writing, emotion regulation and positive parenting.
We do not provide medical diagnosis or treatment. All programs aim to support cognitive skills and self-regulation, and are guided one-on-one by trained coaches. To learn about each program, see /en/courses/attention, /en/courses/memory, /en/courses/reading, /en/courses/emotion or /en/courses/positive-discipline. You can also call +86 400-006-2056.
What does a typical training cycle look like?
Every learner starts with a baseline assessment that combines cognitive testing, behavioural observation and a parent interview. Based on this, the coach designs a personalised training plan.
A regular session usually lasts 50–60 minutes and follows this flow:
- Sign-in and a brief check on the learner's state;
- EEG sensors are placed and the learner begins the training tasks;
- The coach stays with the learner and adjusts difficulty in real time;
- After class, the learner receives a session report and home practice suggestions.
Training is organised into stages. At the end of each stage we review the learner's progress with the family and decide together whether to continue, deepen or pause the program.
